In addition to providing psychiatric care to the city and region of Zurich, the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich also conducts teaching and research. Indeed, research is of central importance and forms one of the three main pillars – clinical care-research-teaching – of the Hospital’s activities.
The research objectives are clearly and simply defined: Our researchers strive continuously to increase understanding of mental illnesses and symptoms, leading to more and improved personalised therapeutic options and thereby improved care.
The University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich contributes its scientific output in the form of academic excellence and clinical practice. With teaching and research at our university hospital, through which we invest in in social progress and the future, we achieve two fundamental goals. These are compassionate psychiatric care and the advancement of scientific knowledge.
Our research and technical personnel are continuously supported in their work. In this way, our Hospital is globally competitive and serves our diverse society with tangible progress in understanding and treating psychiatric disorders.
